Job summary

This role involves leading, supporting, and continuously improving clinical governance and quality of care for residents in nursing homes across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, and Cheltenham. The Clinical Development Nurse will review and support the performance of each home to ensure the highest clinical standards are met, identify practical strategies to address any issues, and help implement key actions to improve care delivery.

Main duties of the job

As the Clinical Development Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the clinical governance and quality of care in several nursing homes in the Oxfordshire region. You will review the clinical governance database and KPIs, analyze the results, and develop practical strategies to ensure regulatory requirements are met and care standards are continuously improved. Your leadership and expertise in managing chronic diseases, wound care, and supporting newly-qualified nurses will be crucial in driving positive change across the homes.

Job responsibilities

We're looking for a Clinical Development Nurse to lead, support and continuously improve clinical governance and quality of care for our residents. This opportunity will oversee nursing homes in Oxfordshire - Witney, Chipping Norton, Tewkesbury, Wiltshire and Cheltenham.

This role would suit an individual with practice nursing experience as strong and up-to-date clinical practice is essential. As an RGN, you will have extensive experience of residents/patient care and be extremely confident in managing chronic diseases (diabetes or asthma) & wound dressings.

In this role, you'll review and support the performance of every home in your region to ensure its performing to the highest clinical standards. Every month, you'll review the clinical governance database and our KPIs and analyse the results. You will then identify practical strategies to make sure we're meeting each and every regulation and improving the care we deliver, too.

Working closely with the Regional Director, improvement specialists and senior clinical staff in each home, you'll plan and help implement key actions to address any issues and keep improving standards month in, month out. Whether you're organising new training, helping attract key senior clinical staff, or delivering clinical investigations, your leadership skills and passion for delivering the best will shine through.

To join us, you'll need to be equipped with a current NMC registration, RN (General) and evidence of continued professional development. An experienced nurse, you've worked in a care home environment, and as a clinical mentor, including supporting newly-qualified nurses. You also have a strong understanding of current regulatory requirements. Combining a sharp analytical mind with the ability to share knowledge, build relationships, and deliver on your action plans, your leadership will deliver impressive results.
