An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Ward Manager to lead Drapers Ward within the Brain Injury Service at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN).
As Ward Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the clinical, operational and people management of the ward, providing visible leadership, maintaining excellent standards of care, and supporting staff to thrive in a complex and rewarding environment.
This role is ideal for an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 nurse ready to take the next step, or an established Ward Manager looking to develop further within a specialist neuro-rehabilitation setting that values collaboration, learning and innovation.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities
Provide strong, visible clinical and professional leadership to the ward nursing team, acting as a role model at all times
Maintain high standards of patient care in line with the NMC Code, RHN policies and regulatory requirements
Lead the day-to-day operational management of the ward, ensuring safe staffing, appropriate skill mix and effective rota management
Support, develop and manage staff through supervision, performance reviews, coaching and reflective practice
Foster a positive, inclusive and engaged team culture that promotes learning, wellbeing and continuous improvement
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, families and external partners to deliver person-centred care
Contribute to the assessment and admission process for new patients within the Brain Injury Service
Monitor quality, safety and risk on the ward, leading incident reviews, audits and quality improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with mandatory training, governance standards and hospital policies
Manage ward resources effectively, including workforce planning and budget awareness
Act as a senior nursing representative in meetings and contribute to service development projects
Participate in the on-call and senior nursing cover rota as required
