We have an exciting fixed term vacancy for an experienced and motivated dietitian with proven clinical and leadership skills to join the dietetics team at the RHN. The post is primarily based in our Specialist Nursing Home Service, which provides long term care for residents with complex disability management following acquired brain injury.

The post will cover patients across the Specialist Nursing Home, delivering an on-site home enteral feeding service closely linked with the on-site GP and nursing teams. The post holder will have an enhanced scope of practice in the provision of enteral tube care across the organisation. This will include triaging enteral team referrals, completing individual assessment of gastrostomy stoma sites and tube related concerns in addition to clinical governance activities related to enteral tube care and management across the organisation. Completion of competencies in gastrostomy care and enhanced scope of practice can be completed while in post.
Main duties of the job
- To manage and prioritise own
highly specialised clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner
without direct supervision and provide highly specialised, evidence based
dietetic and enteral tube management advice.
- Strive to improve efficiency and
effectiveness across all areas of working within dietetics, enteral tube
management and the wider interdisciplinary team (IDT) whilst working within
individual scope of practice.
- To contribute to creating a
culture where high quality, patient centred care is at the heart of everything
we do and is delivered on all occasions.
- Demonstrate an awareness of RHNs
objectives and contribute to achieving them appropriately.
- Contribute to clinical governance
activities across dietetic and enteral teams including audit, education,
training and policy development.
- Oversight of enteral feed home
delivery services within the organisation.
- To ensure professionalism and
excellent communication with staff, patients and relatives in routine and
complex circumstances, including holding difficult conversation.

- Current BDA Membership.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Experience

- A minimum of 5 years experience working as a dietitian with at least 3 years experience of working with enterally fed patients.
- To have extensive experience of complex enteral tube feeding and tube management including troubleshooting of common dietetic and enteral tube issues and concerns.
- To practice as an autonomous clinical specialist dietitian being responsible for a designated case load and to work flexibly within the dietetic department to provide cover as needed.
- Knowledge & understanding of clinical governance and risk management and its relevance to dietetics and enteral tube care including audit, policy development, training and education.
- Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
- A positive attitude to change and flexible working practices to meet changing service demands.
