We
have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse or midwife to work in our
Manchester Teleconsultation Centre/Clinic.
We are looking for nurses
who can deliver safe and effective care of patients wanting to access,
consultation for unplanned pregnancy, surgical and medical abortions,
contraception and sexual health services for women.
You will need to be able to fulfil an integral role within
our multidisciplinary team delivering a confidential abortion service. You will
need to be motivated, enthusiastic, caring and empathetic. Pro-choice is a
must.
Main duties of the job
To deliver safe and
effective care of patients from admission to discharge in accordance with
Healthcare Commission Standards, NMC Guidelines for Professional Practice and
company policies and procedures.
Ensure the patients are aware of their options.
Undertaking consultations including the discussion and
confirmation of treatment options.
Carry out observations.
Carry out point of care testing including pregnancy testing.
Discuss contraceptive options and provide/fit contraception
in accordance with guidelines NUPAS policies.
Administration of drugs to patients, following NMC
guidelines, Patient Group Directives and NUPAS Policies and procedures.
Appropriately Consenting patients for treatment/procedures.
Provide and inform patients on STI Screening.
Identify safeguarding concerns.
Checking details on patient notes and alerting a doctor/surgeon/anaesthetist
to any significant conditions.
Recovery of patients and monitoring observations following
treatment.
Ensure patients have received and completed a satisfaction
survey questionnaire before discharge.
Ensuring patients are informed about aftercare prior to
discharge.
Providing confidential telephone advice for patients with
post-operative problems following discharge.
Completion of contemporaneous patient records, consent and
registers.
Maintenance of patient safety.
Maintenance of patient confidentiality and DATA protection.

- Current Nurse and or Midwifery Council NMC registration as a Registered Nurse Sub part 1 of the NMC register Registered Midwife. Up to date knowledge and experience of working in a sexual health TOP or Gynaecological service.
Desirable
- Faculty of Reproductive Sexual Healthcare FSRH Letter of Competence in intrauterine techniques i.e. IUS and or IDU fitter and Insertion and removal of Subdermal Implants. SDI Recognised qualification in Independent/Supplementary Prescribing. Ultra sound scanning experience and qualification in first trimester.
