Job summary
The Head of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals
(AHP) position is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer.
The core requirements are:
To be professionally accountable for the leadership, development and
clinical effectiveness for all nurses, midwives and allied health professionals
across the clinical settings of the NUPAS service.
To provide effective
clinical leadership, ensuring the nursing, midwifery and AHP agenda is part of
the senior leadership Team decision making process and service developments which
contribute to both the local and organisational strategic objectives and
quality initiatives.
To work with the Medical Director to provide clinical and professional advice
to the senior leadership Team.
To assist in
supporting the Head of Quality and Safety for
monitoring, management and analysis of risk management.
To enable liaison and communication
processes between all clinical staff within NUPAS, and relevant external
organisations.
As part of the senior
leadership team, be responsible for contributing to business and workforce
planning and maximising service opportunities.
To ensure that the clinical service adheres to statutory regulations and
relevant guidance.
To produce regular reports which demonstrate service quality, clinical
outcome measures and statutory compliance.
To ensure all clinical practices are effective and conform to all
relevant legislation.

Main duties of the job
Provide Clinical leadership, ensuring a
professional, visible role model to all staff
Work strategically
and corporately in partnership with the senior leadership team and all managers
to ensure that the nursing, midwifery and AHP professions fully contribute to
service design, client outcomes and experience, ensuring nurses, midwives and
AHPs within NUPAS are heard, informed and engaged.
To provide clinical
leadership to the Clinical Leads.
Function
autonomously as a senior manager and member of the senior leadership team.
Create a learning
environment which facilitates continuous professional development and
continuous service improvement.
Ensure that nursing
and midwifery practice is delivered in a manner consistent with the NMC Code of
Professional Conduct.
Ensure that AHP
practice is delivered in a manner consistent with the Health and Care
Professions Council (HCPC).
Support the development
and implementation of NUPAS clinical policies and procedures.
Implement
objectives agreed at staff appraisals. Identifying where service and
professional issues impact on training and development needs for the
organisation.
Lead complex
development programmes and implement changes, promoting a learning culture in
all clinical areas and support staff in their teaching role.
Act as a role model
for effective leadership within the organisation.
