Exciting Opportunity for Experienced General Nurse/Paramedic to join our Clinical Lead team as a Custody Clinical Coordinator!

The post holder will have a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in an acute medical background (such as A&E, intensive care or as a Paramedic) and previous leadership and management experience.

    Main duties of the job

  • Providing line management, including supervision, appraisal, managing poor performance and identifying CPD strategies.
  • Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods).
  • Signposting and conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending.
  • Delivering substance misuse therapies.
  • Assessment & care of detainees and staff in custody suites
  • To work as part of the police and healthcare team to support the early identification and assessment of high-risk attendees (as defined by the Joint Risk Team) attending police custody, who are at high risk of an avoidable event.
  • To be responsible for the clinical co-ordination and management of resources in the provision of health care for such patients and be responsible for the wider deployment of healthcare resources. The post-holder will work closely with the police custody team especially the PACE.
  • Inspector to ensure effective management of risk in police custodies, supervision of staff and for appropriate management plans to be in place for custody.
  • To be the line manager of Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) across the custodies in TVP undertaking appraisal and personal development plan development and performance manage where concerns are identified.
  • To oversee triage patients in custody as to their likelihood of requiring or not requiring an acute hospital referral in collaboration with the Healthcare Professionals.
  • To balance timely and efficient care planning with the need to maintain the quality and wellbeing of vulnerable patients ensuring those who require care plans are identified.
  • To undertake supervision, mentorship and where appropriate teach junior staff; ensuring that staff provide the highest achievable standard of care.
  • To undertake reviews of those cases which are high risk and ensure care plans are implemented demonstrating professional curiosity.
