Job summary

As a Forensic Medical Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning as well as receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.

Main duties of the job

To carry out medical and forensic examinations in accordance with Mountain Healthcare guidelines and, at all times, within the scope of his/her professional registration.

To assist the Court in all relevant medico-legal matters.

To practice as an independent medical practitioner exercising an independent clinical judgement.

This is closely supervised in the OOPE year.

To treat all service users with courtesy, consideration and give appropriate treatment as expected within any doctor/patient relationship in another setting.

Maintain current knowledge of any guidelines and publications produced by the British An understanding of and sensitive to the child's developmental, social and emotional needs and their intellectual level.

Forensic Medicine (Sexual Assault - Training programme) - Eastern SARCs (Suffolk/Norfolk)

Out of Programme Experience (OOPE)/Alternative Clinical Experience (ACE)

Part-time (16 hours)

Mountain Healthcare is pleased to offer our new sexual assault training programme Mountain Healthcare recognises that commitment to a specialist training post can be a big decision.

However, we believe we can offer a specialist programme of development that will support you through your transition from a Senior House Officer.

As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in all specialties, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry and of course, Forensic Medicine.

What makes this post different:

  • Working in a unique environment which you were unlikely to experience in medical school
  • Flexible rota prioritising educational and development activities
  • 1:1 supervision with allocated mentor
  • After undergoing a successful first year, you will have the opportunity to continue to work in the forensic field as part of our team (salary competitive) and move on to our career development programme (see attached).
    • This programme predominantly covers Paediatric Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), although there may be additional work in the adult service. Travel will be a requirement of this role including Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex SARCS (expenses paid).
