As part of the Forensic Medical Programme, Mountain Healthcare has developed a framework to develop key areas of knowledge and skills which will be invaluable in all specialties, especially A&E, GP, paediatrics, psychiatry and of course, Forensic Medicine
As a Forensic Medical Examiner, you will learn through clinical placements and blended learning as well as receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking this post.
This programme predominantly covers Paediatric Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), although there may be additional work in the adult service. Travel will be a requirement of this role including Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex SARCS (expenses paid).
GMC Registration is required. Please note that we cannot support Work Visas.
You must have a full UK drivers licence and you will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
Main duties of the job
The Forensic Medical Examiner is responsible for ensuring that all calls are managed promptly at any time of the day or night according to shift. It shall be the Forensic Medical Examiners responsibility, when on call, to make themselves available and able to manage calls as required.
Specifically, when working on the custody rota, this will include:
- Being available to answer telephone calls for advice, when needed, throughout the shift.
- To work embedded (on site) for the duration of the shift (or part thereof) as directed.
Forensic Medical Examiner Services
To work within the scope of NHS England to provide a service:
- To provide telephone advice services to Mountain Healthcare staff
- To take forensic samples
- To document and interpret any injuries found during examination.
