Job summary

This is an exciting new opportunity for a qualified general nurse or paramedic with previous experience as a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties of the role:

Providing line management, including supervision, appraisal, managing poor performance and identifying CPD strategies.

Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods). Signposting and conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending.

Delivering substance misuse therapies.

Assessment & care of detainees and staff in custody suites.

Working with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs.

    The CCC will support the Head of Healthcare with providing effective leadership, management and operational support across the Thames Valley region.

    There are 6 main custody suites; Banbury, Abingdon, Milton Keynes, Maidenhead, Aylesbury and Loddon Valley.

    This will be a dual role, split between leadership and management duties, and fulfilling the role of Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional.

    As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will work closely with the Police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

    Shift pattern:

    The 4-on-4-off rota pattern will give you the ability to plan your personal life months in advance. The shift pattern comprises of 2-day shifts, 2-night shifts then 4 days off (12 hour shifts, 7am-7pm & 7pm-7am). A minimum of 2 shifts per month will be embedded in a custody suite.

    Training & Development You will be appointed a mentor and receive regular supervision, with 24/7 access to call senior clinicians, where a second opinion is needed.

    We believe all of our colleagues should have access to training to support their development, therefore, we have implemented a comprehensive training programme with an established career structure, which will enable you to become a forensic practitioner. Regardless of working hours, each colleague will also have the opportunity apply for funding for external courses.
