Main duties of the job
- Operate ambulance equipment and respond to company requests
- Communicate with the patient and others to determine, and then use, the correct combination of ambulance equipment, paramedic skills to meet patient requirements.
- Lead and coordinate the team responding to an emergency
- Evaluate the patients condition on the scene and perform preliminary diagnosis
- Attend to injuries or sudden illnesses by applying a variety of pre-hospital simple and advanced treatments.
- Use tech equipment and tools to stabilize patients or provide immediate treatment
- Monitor patients condition en-route to the hospital or specified location
- Collaborate with interested parties.
- Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards
- Keep abreast with new treatment and medical procedures through continuous training
- Communicating effectively with patients and their relatives/friends
- Communicates and documents patients' conditions to other members of medical crew, such as emergency doctors and nurses, upon arrival at medical facility
- Maintain current professional registration with HCPC
- Ensure that advanced driving skills are maintained and whilst driving, ensure compliance with legislation and the Highway Code.
- Ensuring upkeep and cleanliness of vehicle, returning them to the base in a clean standard received & updating the Senior Management of any damage or issues to the ambulance vehicle
