Psychological Services is an independent provider of counselling and
psychological therapy services based in the Tees Valley area and working across
the North-East region. We are working in partnership with Middlesbrough &
Stockton Mind to deliver the IMPACT on Teesside service, an innovative
Psychological Therapies service offering a range of pathways and interventions,
to enable us to meet the needs of people presenting with more complex needs.
We are currently recruiting for the
role of Clinical Lead for Complex Presentations within our IMPACT on Teesside
service. The successful candidate should have experience working within a
Primary or Secondary Mental Healthcare setting, as you will be carrying out
in-depth assessments and managing a caseload of complex presentations.

Salary: £40,000 - £41,500 per annum, pro
rata to hours worked.
An important part of the role is to network with a range of other services whilst developing and maintaining new and existing relationships. You will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring the delivery of a range of interventions to patients presenting with complex needs (step 3 +), in collaboration with the Clinical Director, Locality Managers and other Pathway Leads and Seniors including non-IAPT pathways and the Foundation & Recovery team. A good sound knowledge of more complex clinical presentations is required. We are particularly interested in people with experience in delivering DBT or similar group-based interventions.
Successful

The postholder will offer a range of evidence-based psychological interventions within the framework of the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) Programme as part of IMPACT on Teessides Psychological Wellbeing Therapies (PWT) Service, in particular paying attention to the delivery of a 3+ pathway, and working within this team where they will provide assessment and evidence-based clinical interventions to patients presenting with more complex needs than standard step 3 presentations.
The postholder will work alongside the team in promoting and developing the 3+ pathway by liaising with GP practices, Tees, Esk & Wear Valley Foundation Trust (TEWV) and other external services. An important part of the role is to network whilst developing and maintaining relationships with other services.
The postholder will help to coordinate and monitor the delivery of a range of interventions to patients presenting with complex needs (step 3 +), in collaboration with the Clinical Director, Locality Managers and other Pathway Leads and Seniors including non-IAPT pathways and the Foundation & Recovery team. They will monitor referrals and waiting times and will liaise with staff to ensure timely transitions for patients from referral into treatment, or onward referral into other services. They will carry out in-depth assessments and work with a caseload of primarily complex presentations. They will also provide clinical supervision and line management as well as supporting and offering guidance to staff within Primary Care and other teams about the mental health needs of this patient group. A good sound knowledge of more complex clinical presentations is required.
This position may require flexible hours between 8am until 8pm weekdays.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To work as a member of the Primary Care Psychological Wellbeing Therapies Service
- To maintain effective working relationships within the PWT Team and elsewhere
- To offer advice and support to other members of the wider Primary Care Team, including GPs and other Health Professionals, on mental health issues, and in relation to appropriate referral pathways for patients with mental health needs
- To liaise effectively with Secondary Care and voluntary sector organisations and services
- To attend meetings and provide reports as required
- To assist in the development and promotion of the service pathway
- To attend Primary Care huddle meeting with other services
2. To provide a range of therapeutic interventions
- To provide assessment, including risk assessment, of clients referred for psychological therapy who may present with more complex issues (step 3+) not normally appropriate for a Primary Care pathway
- To select and deliver a range of core IAPT and other appropriate therapeutic interventions in collaboration with the client and their psychological needs
- To work within an appropriate time framework
- To work with complex presentations of clients suitable for Step 3+ who may require a biopsychosocial framework of care to promote recovery
- To be able to work well within a multidisciplinary approach which includes liaising with social care teams, physiotherapy, occupational therapy etc.
- To make appropriate onward referrals following assessment for clients requiring other services, including statutory and voluntary agencies

3. To manage a team of psychological therapists
