Job summary

Alliance is the leading independent provider of children and young peoples mental health and emotional wellbeing services across Teesside. With a dedicated, committed and enthusiastic childrens workforce of over 30 qualified therapists and trainees, supported by a growing leadership, management and support team, we deliver quality driven evidence-based therapies and support over 3000 children, young people, families and education settings each year. Commissioned through various funding streams, including Local Authoritys, schools and the Tees Valley CCG and overseen through the Mental Health & Learning Disability Partnership we also lead on the Hartlepool and Stockton National Trailblazer for Mental Health Support Teams.

Main duties of the job

This post will operate within a wider team of psychological therapists, delivering evidenced based interventions to children, young people and their families. You will also operate as the direct link for senior mental health leads in a cluster of educational settings, supporting the delivery and developments of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing. The post will have line and case management responsibilities for a small team of psychological therapists delivering interventions in schools and projects across Teesside.

Job responsibilities

As a Lead Clinician, you will share our service vision and organisation values for understanding and meeting the different needs of individuals, families, and communities across Teesside. You will help drive forward our ambitions and vision to empower all children, young people and their families to thrive, by building upon their strengths and developing their resilience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide case and line management to psychological therapists and IAPT trainees as part of a performance management approach.
  • To hold a clinical caseload working therapeutically with children, young people and families.
  • To coordinate and provide assessment, including risk assessment, for children and young people and families.
  • To oversee and report on all activity in your Schools and Projects, including waiting list management.

  • To liaise effectively with other local providers, including statutory, voluntary sector organisations and on behalf of the child, young person or family.
  • To build effective working relationships with other local childrens mental health providers including CaMHS and support the development of pathways of support.
  • To prepare and provide activity reports to local schools within your cluster
  • To facilitate consultation meetings within schools to discuss emotional needs and wellbeing of children and families and offer professional advice, and support/guide decision making for the most appropriate pathway

Safeguarding

  • Responsible for safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children & young people at all times and operating within local policies and procedures.
  • Taking appropriate safeguarding action to protect children & young people at risk of significant harm.
  • To identify and support families in accessing Early Help Services
  • To share appropriately information with parents/carers or other agencies regarding the childs wellbeing and progress keeping within the boundaries of Confidentiality and Information sharing protocols.

  • To maintain appropriate clinical notes and records on PCMIS and in line with Alliance policies and procedures

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Has a minimum of 4 years post qualification experience as a counsellor/therapist
  • Demonstrates an understanding of CYP IAPT
  • Experience of working within a childrens mental health service
  • Experience of providing therapy within schools and supporting whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing

Desirable

  • Previous mentoring with trainees or newly qualified staff
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Alliance children, young people and families funding routes, including referral pathways and criteria for access
