Job summary

The purpose of our Primary Care Digital Facilitation Team is to support Salford GP practices with the use of GP clinical systems and digital technologies to improve the health of our local population, facilitate better access to primary care services and strengthen the digital maturity of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and practices. The successful candidate will be heavily involved with the training of all relevant digital technologies and systems across the Salford locality and will deliver training via a number of routes, including both in-person and Microsoft TEAMS.

Main duties of the job

Offer direct training and support to Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and individual GP practices with digital technologies to improve the overall quality of patient care and access to primary care services. Training may be delivered in-person or via Microsoft TEAMS, dependent on the requirement. The successful candidate will be required to maintain communication with trainees to ensure a full understanding of the training delivered and provide on-going support where appropriate.

Act as a support body for all practices by promoting and exploiting the use of applicable digital products and clinical systems.

Act as a trouble-shooter for digital product issues.

Support with large scale roll-outs of new systems and current system changes/upgrades.

Work closely with line management and Digital First Facilitators (DFFs) to support delivery of organisational targets.

Maintain excellent communication with line management, colleagues, PCN leads and GP practice staff where applicable.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting with the use of GP clinical systems and digital technologies within NHS primary care to improve the health of the local population and to improve the digital maturity of the PCNS and practices. This will involve helping practices get the best use out of the digital tools provided, improve their processes and facilitate behaviour change. The Digital Facilitators will work with Practice Staff and Primary Care Network (PCN) Managers offering direct training and support with current and new digital systems to assist with delivery of national and local contract targets and KPIs.

Main Tasks and Overview of Responsibilities

The post holder will be primarily training Primary Care Network and GP surgery staff members with digital technologies to improve the overall quality of patient care and access to primary care services.

The post holder will act as a support body for all practices by promoting and exploiting the use of applicable digital products and clinical systems.

The post holder will act as a trouble-shooter for digital product issues and problems at practice and PCN level and, where unable to help directly, signpost practices to the appropriate support teams.

The post holder will identify areas for system exploitation and support with scale rollouts of new systems and current system changes/upgrades. The post holder will work closely with line management and Digital First Facilitators to support the delivery of organisational targets. The post holder will maintain excellent communication with all internal colleagues, PCNs and other DFs/DFFs to effectively deliver the GM Digital Strategy and other relevant local initiatives. Knowledge, Training and Experience

Whilst primary care experience is not essential for the role, it is desired.

The role often involves working without direct supervision. Working under direction is subsequently self-driven with regular reviews with your line manager and monitoring reporting for key programmes. You will be expected to manage your own diary allowing for time to research, stay up-to-date and further expand your knowledge on relevant technologies, systems and programmes to ensure the training delivered is consistently accurate and reflects new changes.

The role requires working to a program of activities for the entire year, including attendance at appropriate meetings and workshops.

The role requires continuous contribution to the development and improvement of the processes and systems of work within the scope of the project and to be responsible for self-organisation/time management.

The role requires accuracy and maintenance of concentration over prolonged periods of time.

It is essential that the post holder has the experience to deal with conflicting demands on their time and can manage this complex work arrangement.

The strict confidentiality of all information to which the post holder has access must be maintained at all times and the role may involve exposure to potentially disturbing or sensitive case notes.

The post holder will be required to participate in in all mandatory training in line with SPCT and ICB requirements.

The post holder must ensure careful use of all equipment provided to them and SPCT office facilities.
