To
be responsible for the delivery of the highest standards of specialist
palliative care, support and advice to patients.
Main duties of the job
Abide by the
NMC Code and to maintain confidentiality.
To effectively assess, plan, implement,
and evaluate the care for each patient.
To ensure effective communications with
the Medical Team and other health care professionals.
To develop specialist knowledge to
provide advice and counselling skills to patients and carers.
To ensure the needs of the bereaved are
fully met by the most appropriate individual.
To participate in areas of nursing
research and be able to apply the findings of pertinent research and nursing
practice, to the workplace.
To demonstrate organisational and time
management skills.
To be able to recognise and respond to
stress and anxiety in self, colleagues and volunteers.
To deal promptly with
complaints.
To liaise with external
organisations.
To be actively involved with staff
meetings and discussions during multi professional ward meetings.
To be involved and have knowledge of
audit and continuous quality improvement.
You are required on an annual basis to
attend and comply with the mandatory training requirements, plus any other
training.
Undertake any other duties
which commensurate with the post.
