Job summary

We have an exciting new Senior Management opportunity at Willowbrook as we look to recruit for a new Head of Estates and Facilities. This is a key role in the Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for the Hospices estates and patient facing services. These include:

  • Catering Team
  • Housekeeping Team
  • Gardening Team
  • Maintenance Team

Main duties of the job

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week primarily Monday to Friday. The role has both strategic and operational components and will include taking overall responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of all Willowbrook buildings and facilities. This will include developing a plan of work to continue to improve and enhance our facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, and other relevant standards and best practice.

The role also involves managing patient facing services in the Hospice building, overseeing budgets, line managing teams, and handling procurement activities on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications

  • Facility Management (FM) and Procurement skills
  • Analytical Skills and Budgeting expertise
  • Experience in Line Management
  • Strong understanding of healthcare facilities management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Safety (NEBOSH)
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Willowbrook Hospice is an Independent Charity which operates a Specialist Palliative Care Unit for patients across Knowsley and St Helens who have various life-limiting diseases.

Job responsibilities

The Head of Estates and Facilities is a key role accountable for the management of total facilities services across the Hospice, The Living Well and our retail sites.

The Head of Estates and Facilities will be accountable for the operational delivery of high-quality catering, housekeeping and maintenance service to all patients, employees, volunteers, and visitors to the Hospice.

They will also be accountable for the fabric of the Hospice building and tangible assets including planned preventative maintenance (PPM), waste management, contract and contractor management, security, utilities, and energy sustainability. They will be the nominated competent person ensuring health and safety legislative and policy compliance.

Ensure all Estates and Facilities services operate within agreed budget, be responsible for managing and reporting on Capex budget and to lead on procurement activity ensuring compliance with procedure and best value for money.

Lead on business continuity planning for the hospice

Participate in the place-based management on call rota

Be a member of the Hospice Senior Leadership Team to contribute to the strategic development of Estates and Facilities services. (Catering, housekeeping, maintenance, IT and gardening)
