Job summary

Are you passionate about improving healthcare and enhancing patient safety? Would you like to contribute to delivering high-quality medicines optimisation services? We are currently seeking a dedicated Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic Pharmicus team on a permanent basis working up to 27 hours per week.

As a Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with other pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and a variety of healthcare professionals across Gateshead, Newcastle, and South Tyneside to carry out various pieces of work to improve cost-efficiencies and safety of medicines. The successful candidates will be supported by an experienced team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, working collaboratively across the region

Please note:

We would still love to hear from qualified pharmacy technicians even if you have no prior primary care experience. Training required will be provided to the successful candidate.

  • NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services and appropriate underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent)
  • Professional Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council

Experience

Essential

  • Interest in Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation
  • IT Literate
  • Basic pharmaceutical knowledge of commonly used drugs, side effects and where to find further information
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adaptable and flexible to change
  • Self-motivated and well organised
  • Good level of interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Able to collate and analyse prescribing data
  • Professional and discrete
  • Committed to further training and self-development
  • Able to meet travel requirements of the role

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of working in primary care / general practice
  • Knowledge and experience of using GP clinical systems
  • Knowledge and experience in participating in audits
  • CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway or other post-graduate learning & development
  • Experience of delivering medicines optimisation / management support
