Job summary
CBC Health Federation, the GP Federation in Gateshead, has an
exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual. The role of Chief Executive is a
challenging but rewarding one and the successful applicant will lead a
dedicated team of professionals covering a wide range of primary care services, mostly within the NHS provider arena.
As the strategic lead for the organisation, you are
responsible for delivery of the organisational strategy and associated
accountability framework, supporting the Heads of Service to deliver their
divisional plans and supporting the Directors in their quest to ensure the
company remains viable, and flexible to Primary Care needs.
The role is a front facing role in the Gateshead System so
you will possess highly developed communication skills as you will work across
partner organisational boundaries, supporting delivery of clinical and
non-clinical services to a variety of stakeholders.

Main duties of the job
The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for leadership and performance, ensuring CBC Health Federation is well-positioned to meet the challenges of a constantly changing healthcare environment and is capable of responding flexibly in response to new business opportunities. The CEO is accountable for ensuring the organisation delivers a range of high-quality services that support the development of Gatesheads primary care community, whilst maintaining the ongoing success and viability of the company.
The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for creating, planning, implementing, and integrating the strategic direction of CBC, including overall responsibility for all aspects of work of CBC divisions.
The Chief Executive is accountable for ensuring there is a risk and mitigation framework in place across the whole organisation with strong safety and risk prevention strategies to underpin it.
The Chief executive is accountable to the Directors in ensuring the financial viability and sustainability of the company is maintained.

- Significant experience in a senior position, ideally in the healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of the current issues relating to changes within the NHS and ability to take identify and take advantage of the opportunities available.
- Knowledge and understanding of current government and public policy relating to the NHS and ability to understand how that can be assimilated for the benefit of the company.
- A strong and confident leader who will work in harmony with the board, understand the required governance and be able to participate in the joint setting of targets and objectives.
- Experience of leading and managing large groups of staff across a wide variety of services delivery areas.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of transformation principles and their application
- Evidence of partnership working in primary, secondary and social care settings.
