Job summary

CBC Health Federation are recruiting a Practice Development Nurse who will work closely with Gateshead GP Practices to coordinate and develop learning and progression opportunities for the wider nursing teams across the networks. The Practice Development Nurse role includes increasing the number of learning opportunities and placements for current and future nursing workforce and support Practices with work-based assessment and supervision when needed. This is a vital role within the service to ensure that all staff have effective support and professional development to enable them to deliver best care to our patients, working in line with local and national standards.

The Practice Development Nurse will be working closely with local schools, colleges and higher education establishments to promote Primary Care as a first destination career, attracting people into the profession, improving recruitment and retention within Gateshead Primary Care and Gateshead System.

Interviews are planned for Thursday 1st December 2022

Main duties of the job

To understand the level of placement activity across nursing disciplines in Gateshead Primary Care and Gateshead System, linking with providers to understand baseline activity and agree growth plans. Develop PCN and System placement models to support all disciplines. Increase the number of nursing placements to support a move to GPN as a first destination career. Ensure the high quality of placement provision across Gateshead Practices and Gateshead System. Develop peer support networks for nursing staff and students. Develop clinical supervision and assessor roles within the practices and PCNs. Support clinical supervisors and assessors to deliver effective supervision and mentorship. Explore opportunities for system wide placements working with partners across Gateshead Care Partnership. Aid in the development of a placement strategy for Gateshead System. Work in collaboration with Practice Placements Facilitators with local Trusts and Higher Education Institutes to explore future placement models and opportunities. Develop and implement a Healthcare Academy and deliver high quality clinical training to newly recruited Practice staff. Develop and co-ordinate planned educational programs in line with the Healthcare Academy objectives identifying opportunities for nursing and support staff to reach their potential. Promote high standards of care through the demonstration of clinical expertise.
