Job summary

Working in collaboration with regional partners and AHSNs across England, our work transformslives through innovation.

In this, our tenth year of operation, we are launching ambitious plans to address the key problems facing people across our peninsula.

To realise our ambitions in enabling the maximum impact from research and innovation in the South West, we have created a new role in our senior team: Executive Director of Innovation.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will have accountability for our innovation directorate, which provides a front door for hundreds of innovators into our region, ranging from small creative tech start-ups to large global companies.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will have accountability for our innovation directorate, which provides a front door for hundreds of innovators into our region, ranging from small creative tech start-ups to large global companies.

You will lead a team of multi-disciplinary professionals with deep expertise in identifying and supporting innovators to collaborate with our health and care systems, develop large-scale, cross-sector partnerships to adopt and test innovation in the real world and use specialist expertise to evaluate the impact and benefits from innovation.

To succeed in this role, you will be deeply committed to improving health and economic growth, and have a desire to deliver impact for the people of the South West. You will have experience at or close to board level and have a demonstrable track record of leading organisations and strategic partnerships to identify and deliver value from innovation. Desirably, you will have worked in life sciences, health and care, industry or other relevant sector and have a passion for digitally enabled innovation.

We exist to help transform the way our health and care systems identify, adopt and spread innovation - improving the population health in our region and generating economic growth.
