Job summary

In this role, you will work as one of two First Contact Physiotherapists delivering face-to-face and virtual clinics for local GP practices within the Gillingham South PCN or Sheppey PCN, in Medway.

FCPs are qualified autonomous clinical practitioners who can assess, diagnose, and manage MSK problems and undifferentiated conditions, and where appropriate, discharge a person without a medical referral.

Are you an autonomous senior MSK physio or seasoned APP / ESP ready to move into a full-time employed FCP post and want to progress your career further with a supportive employer?

Perhaps you are already an established FCP who feels a little isolated in your current role, and are keen to work as part of a larger nationwide first contact physio team?

Maybe you would like to work for an employer who provides regular clinical supervision, CPD, and support?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then this is worth exploring.

Main duties of the job

Candidates must be fully HCPC and CSP registered physiotherapists, and able to demonstrate an extensive MSK physio practice portfolio. You will be an autonomous physio who possesses excellent communication skills, can integrate easily with new MDTs, highly organised, and can perform well under pressure.

In this role you will:

  • Use expert clinical reasoning skills to assess and diagnose complex and varied MSK patient referrals under time pressures.
  • Manage a large patient MSK caseload which can also include the management of acute injuries, chronic pain, elderly and, rheumatology.
  • Perform joint/soft tissue injections (if you have the relevant training to do so).
  • Onward refer patients for clinical investigations to facilitate diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Promote patient self-management to minimise the need for pharmacological interventions.
  • Comply with statutory regulations and current legislation, meeting quality standards, and delivering against quality and performance indicators.
