Job summary
In
response to service demand, there is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Clinical
Psychologist with at least four years post-doctoral experience in neuropsychiatry,
neuropsychology and/or services for older people to join our clinical team at St
Peters.
Main duties of the job
The successful
candidate will work with the existing service lead to deliver and develop psychological
input into St Peters Hospital. The service provides integrated care and
treatment for people with complex neuropsychiatric conditions, typically with
associated challenging behaviour. The
postholder will work alongside a comprehensive multidisciplinary team including
Senior Nurses, Medics, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and
Language Therapists, and Dietetics. The post is supported by 3.0 WTE Assistant Psychologist
with 1 WTE qualified clinical psychology already in situ.

Peters Hospital is a 51-bedded hospital based in Langstone, Newport. It caters for people with organic conditions,
including dementia, Huntingtons disease, alcohol-related brain damage, and
acquired brain injury. The people we
support and treat often present with behavioural and psychological symptoms,
including behaviours that challenge. We are looking for an experienced,
innovative and values driven person to join our clinical team.
Iris Care Group places a strong emphasis and value on psychologically-informed services and will invest in your ongoing development. You will be part of a large clinical services team across our group, with access to support from multidisciplinary colleagues. Research and networking interests are supported and encouraged. We have good links with local clinical training courses and academic centres: the postholder will be encouraged to supervise trainee clinical psychologists on placement.

- We are particularly interested in hearing from people who meet BPS requirements for appointment to a consultant grade position but are also keen to hear from people who are looking for a developmental opportunity to progress in their careers, where additional support will be provided on the developmental pathway. There are opportunities to access specialist training in Neuropsychology. You may already hold approved clinician status. Applicants without such status can be supported and encouraged to work towards portfolio submission to support an application to register as an approved clinician if that is an area of development interest.
