Job summary
Are you looking for experiences
that are aligned with a career in Clinical Psychology? Do you have some
experience in a support or care role and want more opportunity to work
alongside a clinical team, delivering evidence based behavioural and
therapeutic interventions? If so, we are inviting suitable candidates to apply
for a number of exciting roles at our specialist neuropsychiatry service St
Peters Hospital.
The role of Positive Practice Worker is integral to our delivery of truly person centred, evidence-based approaches for all of our patients.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for developing and
delivering Behaviour Support Plans (based upon principles of Positive Behaviour
Support) and to support seamless approaches towards patients between the
clinical and ward teams. There will be
opportunities for delivery of direct and indirect therapeutic interventions. You will work predominantly in a support
worker role. Alongside your supporting
role, you will have a day each week devoted to clinical work. This work includes reviewing Behaviour Support
Plans, conducting observations, carrying out psychometric outcome measures,
carrying out functional analyses, completing audits and service evaluations,
supporting therapeutic interventions, and co-facilitating group interventions. You will be working alongside the whole
clinical team, based in the Psychology Department and supervised by an
experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Your work will be mentored by an
allocated Assistant Psychologist and supported by a group of three Assistant
Psychologists and the existing Positive Practice Workers. As such, there will be multiple opportunities
to develop skills, knowledge and experience.
You will have opportunities to access specific, clinically relevant
training. You will embody the clinical psychology ethos; being a guide
and advisor for all staff, working to structured support plans, and promoting
positive change to patients lives.
About us
To succeed in this role you must
have an interest in and commitment to the practice of clinical psychology. You
will be aware of current policy agendas relating to person centred practice,
values-based practice and the need for services to continually focus on
reducing restrictive interventions. Previous experience in working in inpatient
services is an advantage, as is any experience in working with adults and/or older
adults with neurological conditions, challenging behaviour and positive
behaviour support.
This is a development role that we
aim to serve the purpose of supporting people at the early stage of their
careers to progress either onto postgraduate clinical training or to training
in other related professional careers. As an organisation we promote a culture
of continuous learning and supervision.
Please note the Positive Practice
Worker role will include a shift pattern working weekdays and weekends, on 12
hour shifts, on a set fortnightly pattern.
