Job summary
We are looking for a Practice Development Nurse
to work within our UTC team to help to shape the future of nursing in the
centre and beyond. This is an exciting
new role working to develop the Band 6 nurses through their ENP/ANP modules and
the HCAs into associate nurses. This job
would suit someone with an Emergency Department background that is interested
in primary care or vice versa and bringing nursing across these two specialties
closer together. An ACP qualification at MSc Level is an advantage but would accept
applications from those with minor injury and minor illness and prescribing
modules at MSC level.

Main duties of the job
Within
a shared governance framework, the post holder will provide direction for the
future of nursing and AHP through practice development and education. Through a process of work based competencies,
the post holder will provide continuing support to all grades of staff in their
delivery of care, collaborating with
multi-disciplinary teams and medical colleagues.
You will contribute
to the quality, monitoring, evaluation and the development of the service. and take part in teaching sessions for the wider clinical
team.
The post
holder will be passionate about the patients in Tower Hamlets and beyond
helping them to make better use of the NHS locally and supporting clinicians to
make the best use of their skills.

Job responsibilities
1. Assume the role of Facilitator to the Urgent Care teams/staff providing support for continuing clinical and professional development in the work place.
2. Be responsible for the continuing development of evolving competency-based frameworks for Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants and Associate Nurses monitoring and evaluating its effectiveness.
3. Through this process of work-based competencies, the post holder will provide continuing support to all Bands of clinical staff in their delivery of nursing care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
4. Through a process of support/supervision enable the UTCs staff/teams to assess, prescribe/develop, implement and evaluate standards/programmes of care, providing advice and support to develop methods to evaluate care delivered where required.
5. Ensure that agreed standards are followed to provide a safe environment for both patients and relatives.
6. Ensure that effective communication exists between themselves, nursing colleagues, medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, patients and/or their relatives, providing specialist advice and support where appropriate.
7. Deliver educational programmes in relation to Clinical Practice and Professional Development to support service delivery.
Clinical
1. Ensure nursing care delivery is based on current research and/or best practice.
2. Support and encourage a holistic approach to nursing care delivery.
3. Support staff in identifying and setting standards/quality of nursing care and assist teams in the development or implementation of assessment tools to evaluate the care given.
4. Maintain own clinical credibility by working clinically in practice as well as with individual staff members (as required), in assessing, prescribing, implementing and evaluating care given.
5. Facilitate the implementation of a robust system of Clinical Supervision.
6. Through a process of continual assessment identify development opportunities for staff, and in collaboration with service colleagues, develop programmes to facilitate the identified opportunities through working in the clinical area for 60% of the time.
7. Ensure all staff practice within The Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives (NMC) and THGPCG values.
