Job summary
An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced nurse, to join our team at Sheffield Walk-in-Centre as a Triage Clinician.
The successful candidate will be able to assess adult and paediatric patients, providing advice, signposting and repatriation, where appropriate, determining their need for immediate medical attention. Patients once assessed will be prioritised ensuring effective and timely review based on their clinical need.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of the MDT at the centre, supporting the team, ensuring effective communication and safe management of the patients at all times throughout the shift. The role will require the individual to participate in training given in house and attend any necessary courses that are required.
Hours: Full and part time hours available. Ideally to cover the following shift patterns; 08:00-18:30 and 12:00-22:30. However, we can be flexible and would welcome applications.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Work as part of the MDT providing support and advice
- Deliver excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Perform an initial assessment, record the vital signs and prioritise adults and children who present to the service with minor illness and at times injuries
- Advise, signpost and repatriate patients where it is safe to do so.
- Utilise the Australasian Triage Score for prioritising patients
- Support and promote adult and children safeguarding processes within the service
- Be actively involved in audit
- Attend any necessary training that is deemed important to the role
- Ensure that Mandatory training is completed
- Provide training and development to other staff members
- Escalate any clinical issues to the person in charge
- Support the implementation of the Clinical Strategy for OneMedicare
Therefore you must:
- Have a registration with the NMC
- Have post registration experience
- Show evidence of recent training and development or courses
- Show evidence of continued professional development
- Have good time management skills
- Have previous experience working as part of a team
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have knowledge of urgent care clinical conditions
- Have a good understanding or previous experience in triage
Sheffield Walk in Centre sees 77,500 patients annually through walk-in and those booked directly into the service through external system partners such as NHS 111. We have a close relationship with the local hospitals and work across the city with our external partners, to ensure we are providing high-quality care for our patients.
