Healthcare Assistant (HCA) Primary Care OneMedical Group in Milton Keynes
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our GP Practice(s) in Milton Keynes. Since 1st of September 2023 we have been delivering care services to patients and communities across 3 sites in Milton Keynes: Brooklands, Whitehouse and Neath Hill surgeries.
Main duties of the job
This role is specifically for Healthcare Assistants with prior experience in Primary Care. Full-time and part-time contracts can be considered. Therefore, the hours and days will be discussed and agreed upon during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work under the indirect supervision of the Nursing Lead to deliver high-quality care in a safe, patient-centred environment.
- Provide care that meets the patients' needs, maintaining privacy, dignity, and respect at all times.
- Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), alongside GPs, Nurse Practitioners, and other HCAs.
- Assist the clinical team in ensuring the smooth running of the Primary Care service.
- Offer support and advice to patients, promoting their health and wellbeing.
- Develop new skills and enhance your knowledge through ongoing training and support.

Job responsibilities
- Work with nursing and medical teams to manage chronic disease patients as per local strategies
- Support nursing duties, including dressings and clinical observations
- Conduct new patient and NHS health checks
- Participate in developing and implementing service/CCG guidelines
- Perform urinalysis and prepare specimens for the pathology lab investigation
- Measure and record physiological data (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, BMI, ECG, glucose tolerance, peak flow, spirometry)
- Assist with spirometry, minor surgeries, and LARC fitting
- Prepare and maintain clinical environments and equipment
- Ensure clinical rooms are stocked and ready for use
- Provide health promotion activities and motivational support for lifestyle changes (smoking, obesity, healthy living)
- Administer vaccines (flu, shingles, pneumococcal) under supervision
The Ideal Candidate:
- NVQ level 1 Healthcare qualification
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in Primary Care is essential
- Appropriate Venepuncture Training (if you apply as a Phlebotomist)
- Have some experience in minor illness
- A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Flexible, adaptable, and committed to both personal and professional growth
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- A full driving license and access to personal transport.
