Sheffield Walk-in Centre are looking for Experienced Advanced Nurse/ Clinical Practitioners to join our team at Sheffield Walk-in Centre. You'll get to work within a forward-thinking Urgent Care Service, as part of a fantastic team with a wide range of great benefits.
Main duties of the job
The Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner will assess, diagnose and plan care for patients; including prescribing of medications where qualified to do so, and where clinically indicated.
They will manage acute presentations to the Walk-In Centre, as part of a team of autonomous Practitioners; in addition to using the clinical knowledge and skills to determine urgency and best pathway for our patients presenting to the Emergency Departments (streaming).
The post holder will utilise expert clinical knowledge to manage patients presenting with acute, undifferentiated problems in addition to those with chronic long-term conditions.
Likewise, they will assess, diagnose and plan care for patients; including prescribing of medications where qualified to do so, and where clinically indicated.
The full-time equivalent for us is 40 hours per week.

Job responsibilities
Sheffield Walk-in Centre sees 77,500 patients annually through walk in and those booked directly into the service through 111. We have a close relationship with the local hospitals and work across the city with our external partners, to ensure we are providing high-quality care for our patients. We have excellent links with the specialists at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Northern General Hospital, The Childrens Hospital, Eye Casualty and Sexual Health Centre, who provide support to our clinicians and the patients attending the Walk-in Centre
As part of the developments to the service, we have created a wellbeing hub for patients who are struggling with low level mental health and other social issues. We have seen this grow month-on-month since its inception and are starting to expand the service due to its success.
What youll work on
- Face to face consultations with patients from Sheffield and the surrounding areas
- Undertake urgent primary care and refer elsewhere, when applicable
- Provide patient focused, evidence-based practice to a high standard
- Supporting the wider MDT to ensure patients are seen by the right person
