A unique opportunity to join our friendly department in Cambridge that delivers the complete range of adult cardiothoracic procedures using the very latest techniques and equipment.
Main duties of the job
Our customer, Royal Papworth Hospital, is a world leader in Transplantation, VADs and E.C.M.O, and as a perfusion team, we have a unique involvement. Previous experience of a wide range of perfusion techniques is desirable, however comprehensive training will be provided by our teaching team.
We work a 37.5-hour week, on a flexible rota, with a night shift and on-call commitment and we always fulfil N+1 24/7. Cambridge Perfusion is the UKs largest private perfusion provider and this is an exciting opportunity for either a Main grade or Senior grade Perfusionist to join our busy Cambridge Perfusion team, located at Royal Papworth Hospital.

A Clinical Perfusion Scientist is responsible for the safe conduct of cardiopulmonary bypass and associated techniques. They must be able to make autonomous clinical decisions in challenging circumstances. They have a direct effect on the mortality and morbidity of patients. Their work includes activities that are complex and non-routine. The post holder must be part of the team and provide an efficient and effective perfusion service within their place of work. Working as directed by the Partners and team leaders.
The post involves mandatory participation in the departments on call rota and night shift.

Training and Development
- Ensure all opportunities are taken to develop the skills required of a Clinical Perfusion Scientist
- Maintain accurate Personal Development and Training Records
- Ensure that all duties are carried out in accordance with policies and practices of the LLP
- Achieve the re-accreditation criteria of the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists
Communication and working relationships
- Provide and receive complex information whilst communicating in an effective manner

- Complete their electronic time sheet with hours worked in a timely manner along with any expense claims.
Financial and physical resources
- Be responsible for careful use of all perfusion related equipment
- Ensure that equipment is safe to use and comply with local fault reporting procedures
- Work with other members of the team to maintain stock levels
- Obey relevant protocols and procedures when moving perfusion equipment to ensure own safety and that of others
