Job summary
We are looking to recruit a consultant dermatologist at St Michaels
Clinic in Shrewsbury to undertake NHS and private dermatology services.
The
post holder will join a team of three consultants, seven specialty doctors and
2 GPSIs who provide a comprehensive dermatology service to the areas of
Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Powys. This is closely supported by a
specialist nurse team who carry out a full range of treatments such as surgery,
phototherapy, PDT and support the medical team with counselling and management
of skin cancer patients and monitoring complex medical dermatology patients on
second- and third-line therapies.
The
remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi- disciplinary team
providing and further developing care of dermatology patients. In addition, the
individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of
the department while having a significant commitment to teaching and training
of junior staff.
We are happy to consider a full-time role in the clinic or sessions in
addition to another role within an NHS Trust. We offer a unique opportunity of

The NHS role is salaried dependent on experience equivalent to NHS
Consultant pay scales.
Main duties of the job
The
aim of the post is to ensure continued provision of a comprehensive, high
quality dermatology service and to lead on-going developments within the
service to ensure all outpatient, surgical and cancer targets are met.
The
post holder will support the continued development of excellent outpatient
dermatological care and take a lead role for future service development
opportunities. The successful candidate would be expected to develop and lead
in their own area of interest and expertise.
The
new appointee will be encouraged to provide postgraduate education to
interested GP's. There is a regular postgraduate regional West Midlands
meeting, departmental governance meeting and regional medical dermatology MDT
meeting.

- GMC Registration
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register
- CCT/CESR (proposed date must be within 6 months of interview) in Dermatology.

- Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance and the benefits of how this improves the quality of care provided to patients.
