Job summary

The Physical Health Lead role at Elysium Healthcare is a unique opportunity for an experienced Nurse to make a significant impact on the physical healthcare provision for service users at the St Neots Neurological Hospital. This part-time position involves developing and leading physical healthcare pathways, delivering health promotion programs, and providing training and supervision to support the clinical teams in maintaining the physical wellbeing of the service users.

Main duties of the job

As the Physical Health Lead, you will be responsible for providing and developing best practice clinical advice surrounding physical health subjects and concerns to the ward-based teams. With your experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will have the knowledge and skills to lead physical healthcare and its governance. This will involve creating a health promotion program, designing and delivering the Elysium Physical Healthcare Strategy, and providing training and supervision to junior staff. You will also lead service development and improvement projects for physical healthcare, encouraging service users to maintain and develop their physical health.

As a Physical Health Lead, you will be responsible for providing and developing best practice clinical advice surround physical health subjects and concerns to the ward-based teams. 

With experience from the NHS and/or private sector, you will have knowledge and skills in leading physical healthcare and its governance. This will see you provide a health promotion programme, designing and delivering the Elysium Physical Healthcare Strategy and providing training and supervision to junior staff. 

You will lead service development and improvement projects for physical healthcare as you encourage service users to maintain and develop their physical health.

Other responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance requirements and KPIs required to support service users to maintain their physical health care.
  • Design and implement an annual physical and full medical screening for all service users and develop relationships with local physical care provision to promote physical healthcare needs to be met
  • Establish and implement screening processes and taking bloods 
  • Meet the mandatory testing requirements for prescribed medication
  • Liaise and co-ordinate our visiting GP service.
  • Basic risk assessment

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • To be an RGN with at least 2 years’ experience
  • Evidence of clinical practice development
  • Demonstrates effective verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience in management and leadership of a team/service
  • Experience in quality improvement projects and KPIs
  • Experience in the management of long term physical health conditions
