Job summary

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a crucial role in leading the multidisciplinary team and ensuring the best possible care for patients with complex mental health needs at Rosebank House Hospital. You will work collaboratively with NHS clinicians and commissioners to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care and support the team in providing a safe and friendly environment for the patients.

Main duties of the job

In this part-time Consultant Psychiatrist role, you will be responsible for assessing, treating, and discharging patients safely, managing their medication, and ensuring the delivery of NICE guidance. You will also lead and manage the CPA and ICR process to maintain quality standards. As a specialist in psychiatry, you will utilize your expertise to support the multidisciplinary team and work closely with NHS partners to provide the best possible care for the patients.

Working 15 hours a week at Rosebank House Hospital alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will be the clinical expert from a medical perspective to ensure best practice care is delivered and support the team. You will also work collaboratively with NHS clinicians and commissioners.

Rosebank House Hospital is a small, friendly and established Open mental health Rehab service in Reading, with a team that works well together and supports each other.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that people admitted are assessed, treated, and discharged safely
  • Medication management
  • Quality assurance, complaints and co-production
  • Delivery of NICE guidance
  • Lead and manage the CPA and ICR process to ensure full compliance with quality standards

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Section 12(2) approval, Approved Clinician status
  • Clinical training and experience required for gaining UK CCT.
  • Widespread and detailed experience of assessment and management of patients in psychiatry
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
