Job summary

This is a temporary Medical Secretary role at Emerald Place Clinic, which is a general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 to 18 with a primary diagnosis of mental illness across a wide range of disorders and complex needs. The role involves providing administrative support to the medical team, including managing diaries, planning meetings, updating records, and liaising with external agencies.

Main duties of the job

As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for supporting the Registered Clinicians with letters and general documentation, taking minutes for meetings, receiving and recording typing, checking and amending for spelling and grammatical errors, and coordinating the hospital diary and the whereabouts of the clinicians. You will also be booking in meetings and arranging conference calls.

You will liaise with external agencies to get up-to-date information on service users and GP letters. Emerald Place Clinic is a general adolescent inpatient unit for the care and treatment of young people aged 13 up to the age of 18. Young people who are admitted to the unit will have a primary diagnosis of mental illness across a wide range of disorders and complex needs.

These could include Mental Health conditions such as Mood Disorders and acute Psychosis.  Additionally young people may have co-existing additional needs such as Neurodevelopmental Disorders, including mild Learning Disabilities or Autism. A young person could also be admitted if they have disordered eating.
