Main duties of the job

As a Support Worker, you will join an inclusive and supportive team at Walcott House, using your knowledge and skills to help people with Learning Disabilities and Autism along their recovery pathway. Your daily responsibilities will include ward rounds, analyzing behaviors, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene. The role requires a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and vigilance to thrive in a sometimes challenging environment, but the satisfaction of seeing people improve due to your involvement is immensely rewarding.

What you will be doing

You will join an inclusive and supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with Learning Disabilities and Autism, using your knowledge and skills to help people along their recover pathway towards leading a valued and fulfilled life.

Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.  

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.

You will work on shifts 7am-2.30pm; 2pm-9.30pm, or long shifts if you prefer: 7am-9.30pm, including weekends on a rota basis.  Permanent, 35 hours full-time contract. Extra hours are optional.    We are currently advertising for candidates who have a valid UK Driver's License (held for 2 years) in order to provide the best possible service for our residents.   Where you will be working:

Walcott House is part of our learning disability and autism division and provides a specialist residential service for men and women with a range of learning disabilities, including autism and sensory communication impairments. The House provides spacious accommodation and communal areas. There are nine full en-suite bedrooms, two lounges, a sensory room and a fully enclosed gardens. It is situated in Bognor Regis in West Sussex.
