Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Elysium Healthcare as a Deputy Hospital Director at their Thornford Park facility in Thatcham, Berkshire. As a senior clinician or existing Deputy Hospital Director with extensive experience in complex mental health care, you will have the chance to lead a team, shape the culture, and positively impact how the service is run.

Main duties of the job

As a Deputy Hospital Director, you will support the Hospital Director in leading the service, with responsibility for managing clinical and non-clinical teams and being the Clinical Lead for Quality and Compliance. You will have previous experience in project management, as you will oversee the Clinical and Operational functions of the hospital. You will also deputise for the Hospital Director, attending internal and external meetings with key stakeholders. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the success of the service, reporting to the Hospital Director and supporting the development and provision of a high-quality, bespoke pathway of care for the service users.

As a Senior Clinician or existing Deputy Hospital Director with a wealth of experience in complex mental health care, this is your chance to join our team at Thornford Park in Thatcham, Berkshire to build the team around you, help to shape the culture and positively impact how the service is run.  

You will support the Hospital Director in leading the service, with responsibility for managing clinical and non-clinical teams and being the Clinical Lead for Quality and Compliance.

As a Deputy Hospital Director, you will have previous experience of project management as you will manage Clinical and Operational functions of the hospital. You will also deputise for the Hospital Director, where you will attend internal and external meetings with key stake holders.

As Deputy Hospital Director you’ll play a key role in ensuring the success of the service. Reporting to the Hospital Director, you will support the development and provision of a high quality and bespoke pathway of care for the service users.

To be Successful as a Deputy Hospital Director you will need:

  • Professional registration is desirable but not essential (for example Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work)
  • Multiple years Senior management experience in a Mental Health setting  
  • Be able to evidence management/leadership training and a willingness to complete our internal leadership training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing Clinical and Operational teams and creating a positive working environment.
  • Ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Awareness of the wider Healthcare economy and political environment
  • A detailed understanding of statutory regulations
  • Ability to oversee and deliver site projects.
  • Experience in a mental health setting Knowledge and understanding of regulatory processes and the CQC.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of legislation related to the patient group.
  • Audit and Compliance experience within a clinical setting.

Where you'll be working Location: Thornford Park, Crookham Hill, Thatcham, Berkshire, RG19 8ET 

You will be working at Thornford Park, a 141 bedded independent hospital which supports service users that require medium and low secure Forensic Mental Health Services. In addition to these services there is also a PICU Mental Health Service. 

The service provides a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering people in their recovery and rehabilitation. 

Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will provide personalised assessment and treatment programmes for males with mental illness/complex care needs as well as those with personality disorder, and females and males in a PICU service.
