Job summary
Are you a dynamic, proactive, focussed, caring individual, looking to work in the fast-paced pre-hospital environment? If so, then OSR Medical Ambulance Service’s (OSRMAS’) Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) Apprenticeship may be for you. AAPs work in a challenging but rewarding role providing urgent, emergency and social care to patients in the pre-hospital environment.
This is an exciting role which is truly patient-focused, delivering high quality clinical care and improving clinical outcomes. The AAP Apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who are driven, hard-working and progressive yet do not have any formal pre-hospital care qualifications.
Training will commence on 27th June 2022 from our North Training Location (Stockton).
Upon commencement of this role, you will be allocated a station. With the following areas available – Manchester, York and Hull.
Please be aware there are stations with limited availability & our current vacancies at these stations are subject to change with little or no notice.
Main duties of the job
The apprenticeship is 18-months in duration. Following initial induction and observation period apprentices will undertake driver training at one of our education centres and undertake a mixture of continued classroom education and deployment within our Frontline 999 Operational Teams working towards the Level 4 Diploma for Associate Ambulance Practitioners. During these operational deployments, apprentices will work alongside qualified clinicians responding to urgent and emergency calls, developing their AAP skills, knowledge and behaviours whilst consolidating practice through completion of an apprenticeship portfolio. At the end of the 18-month apprenticeship, apprentices will undertake an End Point Assessment.
Driving is an essential skill for this role, so you will need a full C1 or C1 provisional category manual driving licence at the point of application with no more than 3 penalty points, with 12 months driving experience. If a provisional is held, the applicant must pass their C1 test before the AAP course start date.
We are looking for people who can demonstrate our values of Customers, Staff and Standards in all that they do. So, if you have experience of remaining calm under pressure, can demonstrate your caring and compassionate nature and don’t mind working shifts then we would love to hear from you.
Once qualified, AAPs work alongside other frontline members of staff, responding to emergency and urgent calls.
