Job summary

OSR Medical Ambulance Service is seeking compassionate, caring and committed individuals to join our dedicated team on flexible working shifts to be discussed at interview, based in the North of England from our Tockwith station. The primary role of all our staff is to provide the safe and timely transportation of patients between their current location to the appropriate destination in a professional and caring manner. At OSR Medical we pride ourselves in providing a market leading service in all aspects of pre-hospital care.

Main duties of the job

You`ll need to enjoy helping people, be able to work shift patterns including weekends, and be able to stay calm and handle sensitive situations assertively and tactfully.

The post requires the moving of patients therefore safe moving and handling techniques must be deployed, including the use of all relevant mechanical equipment including baby/child seats and wheelchairs. A good level of physical fitness is required for these posts.

As a CQC registered independent ambulance service, we need to ensure we employ fit and proper persons as per the regulations, therefore you will need to complete an interview and induction process.

All staff will be expected to act in accordance with current legislation, our policies, procedures, protocols, client frameworks, scope of practice and training

A FREC 4 certificate is essential and a Safe Administration of Life Saving Medication (SALM) certificate would be preferable but not essential.

You must be 21+ and have a current and valid full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 points. It would be an advantage to have a C1, however training can be provided at your cost.

Job responsibilities

The Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency situations and transporting ambulant/non-ambulant patients whilst delivering high quality, professional and compassionate care. Treating patients within the defined scope of practice, the ECA will assess every patient against the Pre-Hospital Early Warning Score (PHEW) and making, where necessary appropriate referrals for advanced support. The ECA will undertake routine Patient Transport calls, Urgent Care GP Admissions, Intra-facility transfers and act as a first responder to emergency calls with a fellow ECA or respond to emergency calls as part of a crew with a Technician or Paramedic
