Role: Consultant Speech and Language Therapist Location: Peripatetic role based at Dilston College or Spring Hill School Hours: Full Time Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum Are you a passionate and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) who is looking to join our multidisciplinary team? This is a unique post where you will deliver an SLT service and provide support to individuals with a range of Learning Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), often accompanied by complex needs and challenging behaviours working across several of our Specialist Schools/Colleges (SEN & SEMH provision). Below are two examples of sites to cover.
Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist, you will work with a range of individuals to maximise their potential and to enable them to enjoy the best possible quality of life. As a SLT, you will be independently working with individuals to assess communication needs in a range of environments, implementing evidence-based therapy based on the outcome of assessment and provide functional targets and recommendations to aid day-to-day communicative success. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and support the implementation of the therapeutic approach across the environment. You will respond to referrals and be responsible for ensuring an inclusive communication environment is maintained, audits are completed and the RCSLT 5 good communication standards are utilised. A key aspect of your role will be to work effectively as part of the companywide SLT team and contribute to service development.
About us
Dilston College is a specialist provider of further education in North East England, offering day and up to 52-week residential placements for young people with a learning disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and complex needs. The additional needs could include for example, challenging behaviours, developmental disorders and communication difficulties. Brookview School is an independent specialist day and residential school, providing high standard of education for students aged 8-19 years old with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, communication difficulties, challenging behaviour and related conditions or diagnoses.
