Clinical Specialist Clinical CSE Bedford Job: Clinical Specialist Child Sexual Exploitation Residential Service, Bedford Salary: Up to £45,753 pro rata dependent on experience Permanent: Full time (40 hours) Location: Covering a number of residential homes and one school in the Bedford area (within 45mins approx. of central Bedford). Main duties of the job

Your role will mainly be comprised of four elements: Assessment (e.g. direct of the young person gathering and synthesising information from various sources providing a report), Therapeutic work (e.g. direct and indirect interventions via the staff teams), Consultation (e.g. regular sessions with regional manager/homes managers / head teacher, reflective practice, input around risk management etc.) and Upskilling (core training for new starters e.g. attachment & trauma / CSE, designing and delivering workshops to staff based on individual need). You will also have the opportunity to identify areas for clinical service development and project manage these as required. Due to the nature of the role and context, an understanding of the impact of trauma and experience of working with traumatised individuals, families / systems is essential. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, provide containing support to multiple teams, is fundamentally warm, nurturing and compassionate and can maintain a calm, reflective position. Ideally you will demonstrate initiative and have experience taking a lead role.

About us

Cambian is one of the largest providers of specialist education and behavioural health services for children in the UK. Our services have a specific focus on individuals who present with high severity needs. We provide a broad range of specialist services across England. These services include specialist education schools and colleges for both day and residential learners, residential care homes and a therapeutic fostering service. Our specialist education schools and colleges support children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Asperger Syndrome (AS), moderate to severe learning disabilities, associated challenging behaviours and complex needs. Our specialist residential care homes support children with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and associated complex needs. We provide care, therapy and education for a discrete cohort of needs within these homes; this includes provisions for children who have experienced complex trauma (neglect and abuse), those who have been sexually exploited, and those with a learning disability. These homes are all supported by specialists schools to support their individual educational needs. We also run a therapeutic fostering service through which we are able to support children with a variety of complex needs within a family environment

Job responsibilities

Do you have a mental health nursing/ therapeutic social work or therapy background? Are you interested in taking a clinical leadership position to use your knowledge, skills and experience to support staff teams looking after young people in care? If so, we would like to hear from you.

In this role, you will be required to integrate into the residential and school settings within the region as they will form your primary teams. These teams have had consistent clinical support over the past few years and are not new to therapeutic ways of working. The homes you would be working in are currently rated Outstanding or Good by Ofsted. To be successful within this role you will need to have experience in:

Working with children and young people / families presenting with a range of needs. Experience within the residential care setting / education setting is desirable. Knowledge of theory and practice of therapeutic interventions with children and young people. Assessment, intervention and management of a range of mental health needs including understanding mental health through a trauma informed perspective. Partnership working supporting agreed placement objectives, care planning and progression including regular clinical reporting and routine outcome measures.

Essential:

Skills to be an effective clinical leader for the region. Registered with the relevant professional body (HCPC, NMC, SWE, ACP). Mental Health training / background, ideally some CAMHS experience. Interest in and experience of working with teenagers. Experience in using consultation with individuals / organisations / teams. Be a strong team player, with excellent communication skills. Highly organised and effective with time management. Trauma informed care knowledge / Attachment based practice.
