Job summary

Are you a driven and motivated Endoscopist who would like the opportunity to join a fantastic team at CHEC? Our services include gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and haemorrhoidal banding. We design locally agreed integrated pathways supporting the NHS to provide patient-centred endoscopy services through a one stop service. Each of our centres are purpose-built at central, community-based locations, easily accessed by public transport.

Main duties of the job

As an Endoscopist in CHEC, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality endoscopy services across our sites. You will contribute to diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and actively support service development in a rapidly growing service. Our Endoscopists work independently and autonomously as a JAG accredited expert Advanced Practitioner.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Upper GI: OGD including biopsy and Barretts surveillance Lower GI: colonoscopy including biopsy +/- tattooing, polyp removal (< 1 cm), surveillance Flexible sigmoidoscopy: as for colonoscopy as indicated. Banding of haemorrhoids Telephone advice to referring clinicians Attendance and participation at Company and governance meetings Triage of referrals. Please note we use Fuji 700 series or Pentax i10 and i20 equipment in our hospitals. We are looking for someone who can: To be competent in the assessment and treatment of patients underpinned by extensive knowledge of a range of chronic and acute conditions. Independently manage own endoscopy lists including emergencies and work with the wider CHEC Endoscopy team. Exercise and demonstrate advanced levels of clinical judgement, discretion and clinical decision making. Be responsible for autonomously diagnosing and reporting benign and malignant gastro-intestinal conditions, discussing the findings of such examinations with patients. Plan appropriate patient management including referrals to other centres or discharge. Provide management, supervision, teaching, and development opportunities for nursing and other related professionals. Ensure safe delivery of services and smooth running of the units together with building a team fit for purpose. Additional clinical responsibilities may need to be performed depending on the training and competency of the endoscopist. This may include but not limited to:- histology reporting, pre-assessment, training, teaching, liaising with GPs, Trusts, cancer MDTs. To be successful in this role you will need: Valid GMC, NMC or HCPC registration Experience of working autonomously as an Endoscopist Competent and experienced in prescribing and administering sedative and opioid drugs for sedation Demonstrable experience as a practising clinical nurse endoscopist meeting JAG standards of practice Ability to provide NED Data To demonstrate understanding of JAG standards and requirements in an Endoscopy Service To be educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience A passion for high quality patient safety and care To be an Independent Prescriber If you are an experienced Endoscopist who delivers first class patient care and would like a conversation in the first instance, please feel free to contact Jasmine.r@chec.uk
