Are you a Speciality Doctor working in Psychiatry who has experience of working with 16 to 30 year old service users in the community or in-patient settings? Do you like the idea of working for a leading specialist service providing publicly funded intensive residential placements for young people and young adults with mental health difficulties?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Speciality Doctor. The Specialty Doctor will work 10PAs Monday to Friday 9am 5pm with no on-calls. The speciality doctor will have access to a Consultant Psychiatrist who will be their supervisor and provide regular supervision. The post holder works alongside multi-disciplinary teams, which include Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Psychologists, Residential Managers and Support Workers. Your role will be to provide the psychiatric care for the young people as part of the multi-disciplinary team and under supervision. If interested there are opportunities to be involved in supervised therapeutic interventions across the service. You will be supported to progress in your career and access study leave. The Consultant Psychiatrist is a specialist in Medical Psychotherapy, therefore able to provide specialist supervision and training in therapeutic psychiatric formulation and treatments.

There is an ethos of MDT working at Care in Mind and the Speciality Doctor will always have access to an MDT.

This is a community post, whilst the majority of the work will be based in Leeds and the surrounding areas, the postholder will be required to travel between regional hubs in Manchester, Chorley, Warrington.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Fully Registered GMC Medical Practitioner
• Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists
• Completed Core Psychiatry Training with satisfactory ARCP

Desirable

• Approval under Sec 12 MHA 1983/current Approved Clinician Status

Experience

Essential

• Experience working with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder either in community or in-patient setting

Desirable

• Experience of working with eating disorders, in either an inpatient or community setting

Skills & Abilities

Essential

• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
• Full driving licence

Desirable

• Knowledge or training in systemic models
• Knowledge or training in attachment disorders
• Knowledge or training in neurodevelopmental assessments

Other

Essential

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/ or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues.
