Job responsibilities

Are you a qualified Clinical Psychologist interested in joining an enthusiastic and committed team who are passionate about supporting young people with complex difficulties

The role provides plenty of opportunity to work systemically with residential staff teams, gaining skills in supervision, consultation, teaching and clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary setting. Innovation is encouraged, and there are opportunities for CPD.

As a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist, you will have (As a minimum):

• Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or Counselling Psychology, including two or more distinct psychological therapies.
• Current registration with HCPC
• Minimum of twelve months post qualification experience or appropriate experience in training to join us at a preceptorship level.
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including at least six months clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups
• Knowledge of whole life span development and the impact on emotional, psychological and mental well-being.
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least one evidence based psychological therapy relevant to the treatment of adolescents with complex problems and their families.
• A commitment to supporting young people with complex presentations, risks and needs to develop resilience and move towards independence.
• Be able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Criteria:

• Additional specialist knowledge or training in psychological therapies including models i.e., CAT, CBT, ST
• Experience working in an inpatient mental health setting.
• Experience of service quality monitoring e.g. clinical audit, evaluative research, etc.
• Experience of teaching, training and/or offering supervision
• Experience of working in a community based mental health setting

Qualifications

Essential

• Has Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including two or more distinct psychological therapies
• Has a current registration with HCPC
• Has a Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology

Experience

Essential

• Has a minimum of twelve months post qualification experience
• Has experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including at least six months clinical experience working in child and adolescent mental health
• Has experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life span's presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems
• Has a knowledge of whole life span development and the impact on emotional, psychological and mental well-being
• Has experience of multi-disciplinary team working and inter-agency collaboration
• Has a knowledge of the theory and practice of at least one evidence based psychological therapy (i.e. CBT, Interpersonal Therapy, CAT, systemic family psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy) relevant to the treatment of adolescents with complex problems and their families
• Has a knowledge of personality disorders and complex trauma

• IT Skills; including the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook, entering data onto electronic patient records
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to critically evaluate and review developments made by others to determine if and how they could be applied within own area of work
• Able to provide consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
• Able to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
• Able to take the appropriate action to address any issues or risks
• Has an awareness of Child and Adult Safeguarding Procedures
• Has knowledge of legislation and the national agenda in relation to adolescent Mental Health
