Role: Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist
Site: The Portland Hospital, London
Full time Fixed Term from May/June for 1 year Maternity Cover
Hours: 37.5 hrs per week. Additional weekend and on call shifts once competencies have been complete

Were looking for Specialist Physiotherapist to join The Portland Hospital, currently rated Good by the CQC.
The Portland Hospital is the only private hospital in the UK dedicated to the healthcare of women and children. As the only fully private maternity hospital in the UK, delivering over 1,600 babies a year, we place great importance on providing safe and high quality care for expectant mothers. Womens health issues are treated by a team of 40 consultants, supported by nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and counsellors, with an emphasis on privacy and dignity.
Main duties of the job
Main duties:
Undertake comprehensive assessments of paediatric patients, including those with diverse or complex pathology/presentationsusing appropriate clinical reasoning skills, observation skills and manual assessment skills to provide an accurate physiotherapy diagnosis and understanding of their condition
Formulate and implement an individual physiotherapy treatment program based on specialist knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, appropriate and accurate clinical reasoning, and knowledge of appropriate treatments e.g. physiotherapy techniques, patient education, splinting, exercise classes, hydrotherapy and other alternative options.
Provide physiotherapy intervention where there may be barriers to understanding such as foreign language or due to speech/hearing/visualimpairment, cognitive/perceptual difficulties
Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment
Evaluate patient progress, reassess and progress or alter patient treatment programs within the specified timeframes compliant with The Portland Hospital and physiotherapy service care pathways and guidelines.
Develop and implement comprehensive discharge plans in conjunction with other multidisciplinary team members.

As a Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist at the Portland Hospital you will carry out accurate physiotherapy assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of paediatric patients with diverse clinical presentations complex physical and psychological needs in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
This post is part of our 6 monthly specialist paediatric physiotherapist rotation programme. This allows specialist paediatric physiotherapists to rotate between various speciality areas such as: Acute Services (Incl. PICU), Neurological Rehabilitation and SDR services, Orthopaedics and MSK inpatient and outpatients.
