Main duties of the job
As The Head of Midwifery and Womens Services you will provide professional leadership to the Maternity Team, Gynaecology and Neonatal Nursing Teams and ensure the consistent delivery of high quality, evidence - based care to all patients ensuring the provision of competent and culturally sensitive services to the patients and their families.
The Head of Midwifery and Womens Services will oversee and monitor the patient care provision of the assigned Midwifery and Nursing Departments. All professional activities will be performed in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

There are also 6 cots within the neonatal unit which provides Level 2 neonatal care to new-borns.

Leadership
Has overall responsibility for the management of Midwifery and Womens Services, acting as a positive role model at all times
Accountable for patients and their families receiving timely, patient centred, safe, effective care
Represents Midwifery and Womens Services to relevant outside organisations, institutions and individuals
Managing Resources
The post holder has delegated responsibility for the value of all of the department budgets within Midwifery and Womens Services and optimises the resources to ensure revenue-generating targets and EBITDA are met.
Participates in the formulation of the Midwifery and Womens Services departments budgets in accordance with hospital budgeting processes.
Management of People
Has oversight and control of the development, ongoing improvement and implementation of safe, efficient and effective working practices, supporting and guiding the Midwifery and Nursing teams in delivering the outcomes.
Ensures own knowledge and skills (clinical and management) are maintained.
Clinical Governance, Quality and Risk
Work in collaboration with the Governance Team to ensure that Maternity and Womens Services contribute to the Clinical Governance strategy by standard setting, implementing clinical and medical audit programmes and developing action plans as required for deficit management.
Ensures that all departments within Midwifery and Womens Services comply with all statutory, organisational, accreditation and insurance standards
