Job summary

Due to the expansion of our service were looking for an ITU Senior Staff Nurse from a spinal/neuro background to join our state-of-the-art ITU/HDU Unit at The Princess Grace Hospital. The ITU/HDU unit specialises in looking after complex colorectal, liver, urological and are commissioning to care for complex spinal cases which requires staged operations.

As a Senior Staff Nurse in our ITU Unit youll be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the department, providing expert knowledge and supporting the junior nurses. It is varied role, one day you could be providing bespoke, complex care to a patient, in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team. The next coaching and mentoring junior members of staff to help them progress. Main duties of the job

  • To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
  • Prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly
  • Make efficient use of available resources
  • Regularly deputise for Sister, providing management and leadership in her absence
  • Promote team working
  • Assess, plan and deliver care, based on individual patient and family needs
  • Evaluate care of the team and ensure standards are met
  • Respect and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Support and act as role model for junior staff, promoting a learning environment
  • Ensure equipment is in good working order

  • To maintain accurate records of patient care
  • Provide patients and families with information regarding the care and management of their condition Responsible for the control storage and administration of drugs
  • Involvement in projects as required
  • To carry out nursing duties as requested by senior staff
