Senior Staff Nurse - Paediatric Urgent Care Centre

Location:The Portland Hospital for Women & Children

Hours:Part-time 28.75 hrs pw -10shifts per month long day &weekend shifts. The Urgent Care is open 8am-8pm,7 days a week.

We are currently recruiting for a Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse to work within our Urgent Care Centre at The Portland Hospital for Women & Children currently rated Good by the CQC.

Main duties of the job

  • Take charge of the shift and manage patient flow safely and efficiently.

  • Engage with families over telephone using excellent communication skills.

  • To act as an advocate for the child and family, ensuring the provision ofappropriate informationand support services.

  • Communicate effectively promoting open and trusting relationships.

  • Navigatepatientcare working alongside the multidisciplinary team & other services in HCA, to provide the best care for the patient.

  • To liaise with multidisciplinary teams to safeguard children & families.

  • To take part in clinical audits andassistin the development and review of policies.

  • NMC Child Registered Nurse, RN Child or RSCN with immediate paediatric life support.
  • Safeguarding Level 3 training.
  • Must have experience working within a paediatric A&E or UCC with experience in performing minor procedures such as plastering, wound care and performing ECGs.
  • Excellent knowledge of clinical governance and experience with audits.
  • Experience ofshift leading & co-ordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Desirable

  • Ideally experience in Manchester Triage or evidence of a Paediatric assessment course.
  • Ideally venepuncture & cannulation skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Nursing or relevant Nursing Qualification

  • Immediate Paediatric Life Support
  • Safeguarding Level 3 Training
