Job summary
We are inviting applications for NHS Consultant
Ophthalmologists (with special interest in glaucoma), to join our team of
Glaucoma specialists to deliver high quality clinical care to our patients.
The successful candidate will support the remaining clinic
services as appropriate, to include general ophthalmology, new and revisits, cataract
surgery, YAG laser capsulotomies, etc.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Clinical Services Manager, Medical
Director, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Practice Manager,
Office Manager, and visiting Consultant Ophthalmologists, to ensure smooth
delivery of our service.
The Consultant Ophthalmologist is expected to work as part
of a cohesive team, to support and advise other team members, and to take
responsibility for clinical and other relevant issues that may arise from time
to time. The Consultant Ophthalmologist is responsible for taking emergency
calls as required and will participate in the on-call rota. All calls are triaged
and screened by a clinical member of staff prior to escalation. All clinicians
and Consultants are only contacted as and when required.
iSIGHT Clinic has developed a Memorandum of Understanding and Service Level Agreement, with surrounding NHS Trust Hospitals to cover for CSSU, pharmacy, medical emergency, inpatient care and ophthalmic surgical emergencies.
About us
iSIGHT Clinic provides adult ophthalmology services on
behalf of the NHS as commissioned by local Clinical Commissioning Groups such
as Cataract Surgery, Aged Macular Degeneration, General Ophthalmology,
Glaucoma, Retinal Clinics, Neuro-Ophthalmology, and YAG Laser procedures.
Currently we have 2 clinic locations plus an administrative
head office.
iSIGHT Clinic Southport (Drayton House) is our main day case
hospital comprising of 5 consulting suites, 3 operating theatres/treatment
rooms (intraocular, AMD and minor ops), ophthalmic lasers (SLT & YAG),
diagnostic facilities including OCT, OCTA, Fields, Pentacam, biometry,
pachymetry, Orthoptic and refraction.
iSIGHT Clinic Ormskirk (Hattersley House), 2 consulting
rooms, 2 diagnostic rooms including OCT, fields, biometry and YAG Laser. With
potential for further clinical development.
iSIGHT Clinic Administrative Head Office (Southport),
including a clinical office for telemedicine and administrative duties.

Glaucoma & General Clinics
- Triage referrals when required
- See, diagnose, and treat patients in a
high-quality manner
- Be effective in communicating with patients,
GPs, Optometrists, other clinicians, and Directors
- Complete medical records and correspondence
accurately and on time
- Provide reports relating to patient incidents
promptly
- Meet all the criteria from GMC and RCO to
maintain their license to practice. This includes revalidation, internal &
external appraisal etc. Ensure that mandatory training is up to date
- Deliver teaching and training to other
colleagues and AHPs (Allied Health Professionals)
- Be aware of local clinical governance reporting
arrangements
- Work as part of a cohesive team, and support the
administration team to deliver a safe and efficient clinical service
- Behave as a professional clinician as per GMC
guidelines
- Be punctual for clinical sessions and meetings
- To support iSIGHT managers to achieve Key
Performance Indicators
- Perform regular audit and ensure effective audit
mechanisms are in place
- Support the team in the development of clinical
links with other health delivery organisations
- Work closely with other Consultant
Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and other clinical staff including Nurses and
Orthoptists, with management and other administrative staff.

occasions
