Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity for a specialist Physiotherapy rotation within our existing multi-disciplinary therapy teams at Hobbs Rehabilitation, the largest independent provider of specialist neurological rehabilitation to adults in the south of England. We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate therapists with excellent clinical skills and experience in neurological rehabilitation across the clinical pathway, including specialist assessment, treatment planning and complex discharge planning. The successful applicants will join established multi-disciplinary teams working in inpatient and outpatient rehab for clients with brain and spinal cord injuries, working alongside experts in their field. There will be extensive opportunities for career and professional development, supporting you to further develop specialist clinical skills, as well as involvement in research, service development and working with advanced neurotechnology. Hobbs’ services are expanding and developing and you will be integral to the continued growth of these, helping to ensure that expert-level rehabilitation is available to all our clients.

Rotation 1 – Residential rehab at Oaksey House, the flagship rehabilitation centre of the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Rotation 2 – Spinal cord injury and hydrotherapy outpatients at Hobbs Winchester

Rotation 3 – Neurological Outpatient service at Hobbs Winchester

Main duties of the job

Rotation 1 – Residential / inpatient rehab at Oaksey House in Lambourn, the flagship rehabilitation centre of the Injured Jockeys Fund. The Hobbs team provide intensive residential rehabilitation packages to clients with brain and spinal cord injuries, alongside a small outpatient caseload. Oaksey House provides an active environment for a varied population, including younger clients and sports men and women from the equestrian and RFU (rugby) world.

Rotation 2 – Spinal cord injury service and hydrotherapy at Hobbs Winchester (outpatients) – Delivering high quality, holistic rehabilitation to individuals who have sustained a spinal cord injury, both recent injuries and those who have lived with their injury for many years. The role will be based in our Winchester clinic and will include community based visits, including travel to other Hobbs sites and working in the Hydrotherapy pool at Winchester Leisure Centre.

Rotation 3 – Neurological Outpatient service at Hobbs Winchester

Working as an autonomous practitioner in providing comprehensive neurological physiotherapy assessments, treatments and goal setting to a designated and varied caseload of patients with neurological dysfunction as part of the outpatient team and intensive MDT outpatient team. The role is based at Winchester but includes covering other Hobbs sites when required and community visits.

In 2005, neuro physiotherapists Helen Hobbs and Nicky Ellis set up Hobbs Rehabilitation and since then it has expanded rapidly offering an exceptional level of personalised skill and expertise. Now operating from 10 locations, Hobbs Rehabilitation provides specialist inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation for adults and children across the south of England, treating a wide variety of conditions, including stroke, acquired brain injury and spinal cord injuries. An expert team of over 100 therapists, including OT, PT, SLT and Psychology, provide an interdisciplinary patient-centred neuro rehabilitation service, ensuring the individual is placed at the centre of care. We are passionate about pursuing the latest advances in research and technology, along with use of skilled assessment and handling to support our clients to achieve their full potential. Staff are encouraged to be involved in research projects, develop services using advanced technology, and supported for training and CPD.

· Formulate patient-centered goals in conjunction with MDT.

· Create and provide one-to-one and group physiotherapy intervention to patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments, using a comprehensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice and treatment options.

· Evaluate patients’ progress using published outcome measures.

· Liaising regularly with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team.

· Maintain up to date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures.

· Write high quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients.

· Attend and contribute to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video.

Skills & Experience

· Recognised Physiotherapy degree qualification or equivalent.

· HCPC registration.

· Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
