Theatre Practitioner/Scrub Nurse

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced scrub nurse/ODP who is passionate about delivering excellent standards of care, to join our committed theatre team at The Westbourne Centre. As well as delivering exceptional standards of clinical care to our surgical patients, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to broaden their nursing experience by managing a stimulating case mix.

The successful candidate will have proven current clinical NHS and/or independent sector experience in a range of surgical specialities including (but not limited to):

• Anaesthetics

• Minor Orthopaedics (upper and lower limb)

• Ophthalmology

• Pain Management

• General and Vascular Surgery

• Cosmetic Surgery

  The ideal candidate would have 3 to 4 years experience working in theatre, have the knowledge to carry out pre assessments and support regulatory governance in the department.

Part time application will be considered. Shifts will vary to include long days, weekends and evenings

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have:

• Current medical and/or surgical experience within a hospital environment

• Current registration with the HCPC or NMC (UK) and ongoing CDP

• Comprehensive understanding of relevant clinical standards in a surgical environment

• The ability to work in other clinical departments as required

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent customer care skills

• A good standard of computer literacy

• A committed team mentality

• Effectivetime-management skills

The Westbourne Centre is a private day surgery facility in the heart of the Edgbaston Medical Quarter in Birmingham. The Centre brings together a diverse group of clinical specialists and state-of-the-art facilities, enabling the highest quality procedures, treatments and patient experience for private, insured and NHS patients.

The Westbourne Centre was launched in January 2009 by four well-established surgeons who wanted to provide a safe and pleasant environment for their patients, and have the opportunity to work collaboratively to bring about new methods for treatments. The surgeons; Mr Fazel Fatah, Mr Hiroshi Nishikawa, Mr Stephen Dover and Mr Anthony Summerwill, created a joint venture with the global hospital company, Ramsay Healthcare Group. The addition of Ramsay Healthcare to The Westbourne Centre ensured hospital operations support and access to the most advanced clinical technologies.
