Our service comprises a wide range of qualified psychological practitioners. What we need from you is a genuine commitment to learning and using high intensity CBT. As a trainee High Intensity CBT Therapist your week will include university days and service days. Reading university will be offering a mix of in-person and online teaching. Centre for Psychology will also be offering a mix of in-person and online clinical work. You will need to travel between Reading and Surrey.
Main duties of the job
The course you will be completing at the University of Reading as part of this role is a Level 2 accredited course with BABCP. This means that upon completion of the course trainees will meet criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP.
To apply, you must meet the criteria for CBT training and also have a BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or related areas. This means having a BABCP recognised Core Profession. You can find out whether you have a BABCP recognised Core Profession at https://babcp.com/Accreditation/Cognitive-Behavioural-Psychotherapist-Accreditation/Core-Professions/Core-Professions-list-and-criteria. Please note your core profession and pin number (or similar) in your application.
If you do not have a BABCP-recognised Core Profession, you must complete a portfolio of evidence to show that you have equivalent training and experience. This is known as the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes portfolio (KSA). Prior to this interview, you must have completed self-statements for the KSA criterion required based on your experience. Please see the BABCP website above for guidance and exemplars. You will be asked to send KSA criterion 4 to the University prior to interview.

Please also be aware, if you have completed previous Health Education England funded training (e.g., PWP training), you cannot attend High Intensity training until 2 full years after your previous trainings exam boards we will require proof of this time period prior to interview if you completed PWP training prior to 9th September 2023.
