Job summary

We are looking for experienced patient focused MRI Radiographers to contribute to providing a high quality, efficient and effective MRI service, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the MRI list.

This will include care of the patient, MRI safety management, quality management of images and equipment, and administrative duties as required in order to maintain an efficient service

We currently have two MRI scanners a 1.5T Siemens Espree scanner and a 3.0T Philips Elition scanner.

We will welcome applications from radiographers looking for full-time or job share opportunities.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for experienced radiographers with an in-depth knowledge of MRI scanning and associated safety issues.

In particular we require a competent MR practitioner who will provide a high standard of patient care resulting in a positive patient experience.

Any applicant must be efficient and self-motivated and be able to time manage their workload effectively.

We are looking for individuals who will compliment our existing team.

Job Summary

To contribute to providing a high quality, efficient and effective MRI service, with responsibility for the day-to-day running of the MRI list, MRI safety management, quality management of equipment and images, and administrative duties as required to maintain an efficient service.

Good communications are extremely important within the Clinic, with all customers, patients and with outside agencies, you will be expected to help ensure that everyone who comes into contact with it holds the Clinic in high regard. Absolute discretion is required in protecting patients data and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

To perform a range of general and specialized MRI examinations, maintaining the highest professional and technical standards, whilst promoting high professional and ethical standards of clinical practice to ensure that all aspects of clinical governance are fulfilled.

Preparation of patients for MRI scanning

Have an understanding of Health and Safety issues with regard to MRI Scanning

Positioning patients safely and comfortably

Knowledge of the correct use and placement of coils

Knowledge of Emergency procedures, in particular Magnet and Medical Emergencies

Be aware of the Local Rules of the Clinic.

Be aware of the Implant Policy of the Clinic

Use initiative to prioritise, deliver and time-manage workload effectively and ensure all data input is recorded accurately for both patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes.

Manage the Controlled Access Area and MR Environments and ensure that they are tidy, clean and efficiently run.

Use computerised and manual methods of documentation to maintain accurate patient records

Advise colleagues on MRI safety issues

Report all equipment malfunctions or faults to the manager and, if necessary, undertake any further action to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.

To act professionally within the standard and framework provided by the HCPC and College of Radiographers Code of Professional Conduct.

To maintain active registration with the HCPC.

Update clinical knowledge and professional development and maintain a professional portfolio in line with HCPC & CoR recommendations and requirements

To help and support colleagues as required, including cover for annual leave and sickness

To ensure that total confidentiality and Data Protection is maintained in that no information about patients, either medical or personal, is disclosed to persons other than those referrers attached to that patient.

Knowledge of the GDPR policy of the Clinic

Act as an advocate for safeguarding patients, demonstrate courage to speak up when there are concerns about care.

In undertaking the duties outlined above the post holder will have access to patients. This means that the post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all post holders must disclose any criminal conviction including those considered as spent under the Act. Post holders will be required to consent to a check through the Criminal Records Bureau.
