Job summary
As a Rehabilitation Assistant you will provide high quality therapeutic care to STEPS clients in line with their care and rehabilitation plans, whilst supporting the client to be as independent as possible. You will work with and support our inter-disciplinary team of nurses and therapists.
The post provides an interesting and supportive setting for individuals passionate about working in rehabilitation with great opportunities for training and development. About us
STEPS is a purpose-built 23-bedroom, unique rehabilitation facility, able to deliver high-quality care from a range of medical and rehabilitation specialists on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. It is a unique environment that provides rehabilitation to clients who have sustained life changing injuries and illnesses including stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, traumatic amputation and other complex trauma injuries.
STEPS has been designed to feel non-clinical, comfortable and homely and we hope you will agree STEPS is like no other care facility you will have worked in. Our specialists work collaboratively under one roof and clients can access a wide range of therapies and specialist robotic and VR rehabilitation equipment. You will be working within our interdisciplinary team comprised of Consultants in rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, anaesthetics, plastic surgery and pain management, physiotherapists; occupational therapists; speech and language therapists; neuro-psychologists; neurologic music therapist; prosthetic and orthotic specialists and amongst other nurses experienced in complex care. To provide rehabilitation support to STEPS clients in line with their rehabilitation care plans, often providing a first port of call for clients needs for example delivering a stretching programme, supporting with speech and language exercises and supporting with activities related to their goals.

To support clients with hospital visits.
To support clients in the community individually or as a small group for a range of activities including visiting the park, bowling, shopping, archery, attending events such as the snooker world championships or para ice hockey with other members of the STEPS team
To provide feedback to the senior team on how clients are progressing with their rehabilitation, escalating issues and concerns in accordance with STEPS Policies and Procedures.
Additional duties as assigned by either the Senior Rehabilitation Assistant Coordinator, Senior Rehabilitation Assistant or Senior Nurse on duty.
